VP - SBA Senior Portfolio Manager, Oak Ridge, NJ

As the VP - SBA Senior Portfolio Manager at Lakeland Bank you will service the existing Small Business Administration (SBA) 7(a) loan portfolio to meet bank policy and SBA requirements. Additionally you will underwrite new SBA loan requests, loan renewals and modifications, as well as manage payment deliquencies.
Responsibilities also include:
Obtain documentation and perform collateral site visits for adherence to Bank and SBA monitoring requirements.
Proactively initiate customer contact, including on-site calls, verbal and written communication to respond to inquiries or assist team members during periods of absence, address Bank underwriting questions, and manage loan portfolio duties.
Perform independent research for credit quality and loan presentation preparation.
Underwrite new loan requests incorporating analysis of borrower-provided financials to determine eligibility for SBA 7(a) loans.
Work primarily with SBA lenders and review new loan referrals submitted by other business units.
Identify key credit risks, make sound loan structuring recommendations, and utilize trend analysis in executive level reports. Prepare periodic reports and credit presentations for senior management, conduct ad hoc borrower analysis, and, in limited instances, assist non-SBA underwriting staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversight of SBA Portfolio Management function.
Manage existing Small Business Administration (SBA) 7(a) loan portfolio and underwrite new SBA loan requests, loan renewals, and modifications to include managing payment delinquencies.
Responsible for entire loan process including inception, underwriting, commitment, documentation, closing, reporting, and on-going monitoring.
Conduct credit investigations and prepare submission credit memo for review and approval for new and existing loan requests summarizing the business operation and loan request, including use of proceeds, nature and history of business, management experience, the source of capital injection, collateral value, justification for any addbacks to cash flow, explanation for adverse business trends, additional collateral to be taken, etc.
Ensure obvious credit issues are appropriate and adequately addressed and explained.
All associated duties related to the credit review of manually underwritten SBA 7(a) loans.
Spread financial statements, tax returns, and related information on borrower, guarantor, and affiliates to excel spreadsheets and/or other programs for analysis, and ensure initial cash flow is adequate to support the proposed debt.
Ensure all transactions and processing comply with Bank and regulatory guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Perform basic research, together with financial and statistical analysis to determine and support applicant's credit worthiness.
Using appropriate and effective communication, act as liaison to internal and external customers to resolve business lending issues, understand customer needs, loan request, and financial status, and obtain required information to complete the process.
Maintain knowledge-level through continued course work and appropriate training, and keep up with regulatory changes.
Follow Bank policies and procedures, and compliance regulations, and complete all required annual and job-specific training.
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Skills and qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field
7 years of Portfolio Management experience; loan portfolio and underwrite new SBA loan requests to include managing payment delinquencies, loan renewals and modifications.
Working knowledge of SBA loan structuring, underwriting, documentation, eligibility and credit.
Working knowledge of SBA Standard Operating Procedures
Excellent, effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to effectively multi-task, managing time and resources to ensure work is completed efficiently and within established time-frames
Strong math aptitude and analytical skills
Excellent organizational skills
Proficient in MS-Office, specifically Outlook, Excel, and Word
Preferred qualifications:
8 years of Portfolio Management experience, to include 2 years of credit or underwriting at a Bank.
2 years of supervisory experience (including hiring, reviewing, counseling, coaching, training and terminating)
Working knowledge of Baker Hill software

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
